Well our family witnessed a SHT by somebody else. We were at a lake in Lexington Tn. this weekend. We take our jet skis here often cause it is close. EDIT They are always performing their "stunts" within 30 yards from shore and about 20 yards from a swimming area. Well this time they had about a 3 year old little girl at the controls. So here he is sitting on the back of the ski with no life jacket on not holding on to anything. Well every time she gives it a little gas he kinda rolls onto his back. The group on shore is watching and laughing he is having a great time. Well the little girl grabs a handful of throttle, he rolls right off the back into the water. Its okay because he has the tether on. Wait no he didnt. Now the jet ski is headed right for the retaining wall with here doing about 20 i'm guessing. And she isnt letting off. She hits this wall so hard and it obviously doesnt give any. Luckily she has her jacket on, she hits the bar pad so hard it made me hurt. Then gets knocked off into the water. Luckily it wasnt pointed towards the beech. or it could have been worse. I was hoping the jet ski would have sunk but it didnt. I just dont understand people.

That sort of stupid behavior is not limited to any particular group.

Yea, I'm a little tired of people taking cheap shots at jet ski riders when they mess up. I've seen tons of stupidity by ski boats, bass boats, hell even bay boats and party barges. Just because jet skis are faster, more maneuverable and more fun to ride than your boat, don't take it out on the jet ski rider.

I've almost been killed by bass boats while on my ski. By no fault of my own. Passing me on the wrong side, etc. I don't say all bass boat riders are imbeciles. One idiot does not the lot make.

I wasnt taking cheap shots at a group. I dont know how you interpreted that. The "they" i was referring to were the group using the mentioned PWC, not a stereotype of all.

It wasn't only me that saw it that way, a moderator edited your thread and cited the reasoning being that you stereotyped one group of people. So its not only me.

It's not the operators fault, it's the jet ski's fault eh?

It's like those machines have a mind of their own!

back to the real topic: although I usually leave people alone, I think in that case I'd be inclined to find out how to press charges against the "adult" who let that happen. Inexcusable, to endanger that child that way, not to mention the others.

The description I used was not a stereotype. I was describing this group that was acting recklessly. Not a generalized description of all PWC owners. Water, why would I be talking bad about the PWC crowd, when obviously I am included it that category?

The first thing I did was look for a LEO. There were none around. There wasnt much that could be done after the fact.

Point taken. However, that particular sort of foolishness is a little easier to perforn on a jet ski (as opposed to traditional power boat). Meaning that it is quite easy to have a child on your lap on a ski, and then easy to have them dump you off the back. Most traditional boats either have a seat back or have insufficient power to drop someone off the back of the boat. Years ago, I would let my young daughter "drive" our pontoon boat, but it had only about a 20Hp motor. No way she could dump me off the back with that motor. BTW, that boat did not even have a leash on it. Many of the Jet ski comments are perhaps due to the fact that Jet ski's do support some relatively outlandish stunts that simply cannot happen with more traditional boats. I still hate them, but that is my problem.
