shrimp fishing?

I want to try shrimping in the puget sound. any one got any tips? actually I need all the info I can get. never done it never seen it done no clue. any help?

i've always used a cast net, but that was in the intercoastal

out here i guess you fish in 150 feet of water. i dont know where to start.are they like crab that have certain spots they prefer or are they just anywhere and everywhere?

I do it right here off Bainbridge. I have a favorite spot near Blake Rocks. We set our pots about 300 ft using puss-n-boots canned cat food for bait. We soak the pots for ½ hour or so, then check 'em. You definately need a powered pot puller if going deeper than 80-100'. Put lots of weight to hold the pot down. Drink lots of beer, it seems to help.

We used to anchor in the Indian River (FL) at low tide, put out lanterns fore and aft then dip the little suckers with long handled dip nets as they came in on the tide. Looks like a bunch of little tail lights coming at ya.
