Lets see some I/O engine pictures
I seem to be the only one with the dreaded 470 mercruiser
Is there any one else, with 170hp in a 4cyl
seems like most of the early starcraft used the 140
or the 165 inline 6cyl in the larger boats

Re: show me your I/O

you got something against us GMs?

That engine ran from 76-84, changed a little with 4bbl carb, but there's nothing else in Starcrafts just OMC and Merc's as far as I know.

Re: show me your I/O

and I dont think there are any V8's except for over 22' (which I did see an add on CL for a 30' Starcraft, but forget what it had for an engine) and not till late 80's to 90's.. at least not in the TIN boats. The largest engine that I know of that were in the Tins... was the Mercruiser V6, and I dont think there were that much OMC's The Inline 4 that you have is a good stout engine, you can do the altenator upgrade and goto a 4bbl carb for more HP.

If your Engine runs as good as it looks ,you should have no problem. Looks like a new Engine and do I see a 4 barrel carb on it?

Re: show me your I/O

I like the huge hatch for the fuel tank access.. nope .. 170hp's are 2bbl, and that's def a 2bbl, 190s are 4bbls, I have a spare carb from a 3.7L 4bbl and plan to install on my engine once I make a bracket to hold the diverter on the underside of the carb infront of the #3 & #4 cylinders. (sucks)

Re: show me your I/O

it seems the more popular I/O was the 140
but you could buy the boats and put whatever you
wanted in them
GM engines are my preference but I like the ford/merc
thing they did
POWER to WEIGHT
140 much easyer to get parts
where are the I/O pictures ???

OK here's one of my 1966 110 HP Mercruiser and the Type 1A Sterndrive. If you go to my build thread link below you can see vids of us adjusting the valves after it blew a valve during a trip to the lake :( :(
