I am wanting to get a shoulder holster for my Tri-Star 9MM. There seem to be so many types available that those of you that use one i am hoping you can enlighten me to the pro's and con's of the types.

One big question is the angle the holster sits at, Some are vertical and some are tilted. I would like something that is very nearly impossible to notice yet still be able to remove the weapon quickly if and when necessary.

Leather or Fabric? Hooks to belt or around waist?

Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?

Mine is cloth, vertical and straps across the back and over the shoulder. It is comfortable and easy to use, but it is for my .44 Mag Blackhawk and hunting, so it is noticable and bulky. That is the only shoulder holster I have, so not much help for you ... but it is camo, so can you really see it? LOL!

I have only one as well. It is for a Thompson Contender pistol for hunting deer. And the pistol sits vertical as well. And it too is not concealable either. If I had to use a shoulder setup for a self defense gun, I would go ballistic nylon and go vertical to make it blend in better when wearing it. If you go horizontal, the gun will have to be short in the barrel length or it will surely be noticeable. JMHO!

I use the leather GI shoulder holster my issue. .45 came with in 1968. After wearing it for 4 years and three tours, I don 't even notice it. Holds gun at an angle for a nice quick cross draw. Multiple adjustable leather straps. Not very concealable in hot weather though !

I use a Uncle Mikes nylon vertical holster. I have 2, one for my Taurus 1911, and one for my Ruger KP345. I like vertical because both of those pistols are full size, and they don't print when worn under a button up shirt not tucked in or with a jacket. I'm saving up for a Galco leather as I think it will be a little more form fitting over the nylon. I do have a Uncle Mikes nylon Miami Vice rig, but I don't like the angle the gun sits at so I seldom wear it.

I think they just sit in there naturally but I could be wrong.
