hi all
second question fr my trailer:
see this part in the picture_____0726.jpg

the boat on trailer is about 2 centimeters above it but without touching it.

according to the shape i assume there used to be a roller their to carry the weight of the front part and help facilitating the boat getting off and on the trailer?

if i want to put a new roller, how many centimeters you think should the boat be lifted up due to the roller size?

hope i was clear with the question.

many thanks

Absolutely!

You can buy just the keel roller for a lot less than the whole assembly. I think that is a a 4". The roller is just a bit less than the width of the space between the brackets. The total rise will be about 1" but you can loosen the tongue bolts and tilt the bracket a bit toward the rear of the boat to adjust the height to any level you want. That is why it has so many holes.

This or one of the other sizes plus a new bolt is what you need, http://www.iboats.com/4-Spool-Keel-...3926913--session_id.754385946--view_id.942588

The clearance you have is just about the same size as the roller.
It will move millimeters if anything. It might not even touch!

so assuming it will not touch it, is that o.k. leaving it this way or should i adjust the height by loosen the tounge bolts and tilt the bracket so it does touch it?

Put a roller on it. If the boat shifts at all going down the road, the axle could beat against the hull. Not good.

Sometimes the winch and winch post stop will cause the the boat to be above the last keel roller. If the clearance was more than 1/8" (about the thickness of a wooden kitchen match stick) I personally would try to adjust it. Primarily because you ave a few feet of boat to the front of the rollers or bunks and stability can be real important at highway speeds.

Ouch!!!!! Of Course!!!!!!!! :embarassed:
Poor Hull. Even if you are not a boater, always do a little research.
It is better to be safe than sorry.

I submit this picture as evidence. Jury, please draw your attention to the area of the hull around the bow eye.

to the roller defence, that area around the hull is due to another problem where there is no rubber around the v shaped support of the hull-around the bow eye. this is another thing that should be fixed.

Re: should this have a roller

I hear ya. Last summer I put a nice deep scratch in the gelcoat from driving onto the trailer a little crooked. I've walked it on ever since, which I will probably continue to do. Though I will probably switch to new bow stop rubbers like this: http://www.iboatsimages.com/mall/image/view/3/4/50080920_0.jpg
Or just put end bells on like this: http://www.iboats.com/mall/image/view/2/2/p1b_2.jpg

thanks for the reply
if i got it right from your second picture, end bells come much lower than keel roller , right? so what is the eye ring below the end bells? does it replace the upper eye ring?
putting end bells below replaces the higher bow stop as the one i have?

I'm not sure I completely follow you, but the pictures I posted are only of bow stops. They are not meant to replace the front roller that is missing on your trailer. I suppose you could use the roller with the end bells in my first link though if you wanted to. I believe the eye ring your speak of is the bow eye.
All most folks have in that spot, including myself is just a roller (looks like a 4") like this: 4" Spool Keel Roller - Tie Down Engineering 86480 - iboats or any bow roller or spool roller that will fit in your bracket on this page: Boat Trailer Bow Rollers - iboats
It should like something like this complete unit here: KEEL ROLLER W/ BRACKET - Tie Down Engineering 86121 - iboats
