Guy's,

I have a 1992 225 Johnson. I'm trying to isolate water intrusion in the lower unit. I just bought it used and noticed the problem during my test drive I was told that it was addressed with a new prop seal and it passed a pressure test. After my first run out on the water a had water in the lower unit.

After dropping the lower unit and removing the water pump I noticed that the O ring seals directly under the the water pump where the drive shaft come out appears to be a possible source for intrusion. When I move the drive shaft it wobbles.

Q: Should the drive shaft wobble.
Q: Can I buy a seal kit to cover all seals?
Q: Can anyone recommend a place to buy a service manual?

Thanks for the knowledge. Is the drive shaft seals a likely source for water intrusion?

I would suspect the fill screws..or the propshaft seal...as fishline is easily picked up and will destroy the seals.

TMD

Hi Stoked
Before you get all busy rippin and tearin into this thing. Test it. Buy a vacuume pump from the auto parts store and also a hand bicycle pump. The test procedures are out lined in the manuals. If you only need gaskets on your fill plugs this could save you some trouble. If you need more than that this could save you a whole lot of trouble and cash.
