Should Install Trim Tabs??

I have a 2002 Maxum 1900sr that list to the starboard side under power and dramatically when turning
to the starboard side. The boat will ride perfectly level at a slight port side turn. So if I want to go straight I'm
listing to the left, If I'm turning left it severely list, If I'm turning right it is releatively level. It has a hydrofoil
installed would installing trim tabs correct the problem & if so do I remove the hydrofoil & what type of trim tabs
should I get??? Thank you any help appreciated.

Hi. First, if you did add trim tabs - remove the hydrofoil! You don't want both. Helm adjustable tabs will help, but that isn't fixing the problem - it's just hiding the symptoms. Investigate this one step at a time - I would first try removing the hydrofoil and see if the problem is still there.

Question? Can you clarify your post? At first you say it lists to starboard, but then you say it stays level in a turn to the right

I'm with ARG- remove the hydrofoil and see what happens. How's your weight distribution? Does the boat sit level at rest?

Couple other things to be aware of... a v-hull lists quite a bit in any turn. A v-hull lists (leans) into the wind, too. Wind on my starboard beam causes the boat to list to starboard, and vise versa. I use my adjustable tabs all the time to correct list according to my heading.

Agreed-- take the hydrofoil off and see how she sits at rest. If level install adjustable tabs. If a list either direction find the reason and fix it before installing.

Definitely find the reason for the list first then consider the tabs if you still want them.
