Should i replace cable

I bought a new replacement cable and when i fed it thru hull and started tightening the nut the whole cable twisted like a pretzel (before the inner core was added), it did not put a kink in it but just bent it some! Should i bite the bullet and buy another cable and avoid this potential mistake before i put it all together?

I'd straighten it all out an slide the core in. If it goes in easy go with what you have. If it fights you at all going in then replace it all.
