block.png block.png I own a Honda b100l . I know it's a older motor but I got it next to free. Long story short I dismantled to see condition and noticed this about the block . The chip goes all the way to the wall . Is it safe to put a new head gasket or is that to narrow to trust . Please see pic

Seem there are more problems then just the chipped area. I see a broken head bolt as well. BUT, if you can clean it up, remove the broken bolt and it will be straight and not warped, I don't see why it wouldn't work. A competent machine shop should be able to tell you for certain being how it needs to be checked for bore wear anyways. Let them tell you for certain... JMHO!

Id probably scrap it, by looking at its condition even if you were to get it running it would be on borrowed time and youll probably have much more time and money in it then its worth.

Check the drive shaft on the lower unit too. Remove the water pump impeller and look to see where the drive shaft seal rides on the drive shaft. Some older Hondas were bad about grooving the shaft where it wouldnt seal.
