I have an aq 131a with 275 currently running a 21 ss prop that runs about 4100 WOT at 30mph when all my family aboard. When just my wife and I, It runs 4800 WOT at 39 mph. I really struggle to get on plane with the family and need to decide between a 17 or 19 for the days everyone goes. What suggestions would you make? The current prop is a 14.5X21 volvo ss.

by reducing 1" you will gain approx 150 - 200 - food for thought

21 is way too large for your setup

If your just cruising a 19 will probably work.
If you want to do water sports a 17 will be better and you'll have to watch the rpm.

.

For general cruising, I use a 3-blade 19" aluminum blade. For water sports and loaded heavy, I use a 4-blade 17" aluminum. Take both with me and the other becomes the onboard backup. Same approach might work for you as well...

Also, I installed Nauticus trim tabs SX version on my boat and love them. These "install them and leave them" tabs with 4-blade prop is amazing. Both might work for your setup as well..
