This was worn by a roller in my Starcraft 14'. Do you think I should fix it. If so, what with?
I would fix it with some JB weld or something because it will fill with wter and add drag to your boat.
and by all means fix the trailer

Thanks guys. I've completely torn down the trailer, repainted it and replaced the rollers. Do you think if I patch the hole with J.B. Weld, and the patch sits on the roller that it will hold up? This is all new to me.
Thanks,
Bud

Re: Should I fix this?

When you put the trailer back together,
Move the rollers so they contact the hull on Flat spots, Not the strakes.......

Depending on Where that hole is,
You Could do more damage filling it.....
The strakes on a Starcraft have small holes in them to Drain them......
Make Sure, If you fill it, That it'll be able to drain, or the water left in it Could Freeze,+ Split into the Hull.......

Bondo, the keel runs the whole length of the boat, so I don't understand what you mean by moving the roller to a 'flat spot'. Anyway, the roller can only be mounted to the cross channel member on the trailer so I can't move it forward or rearward. Maybe I'll try some of that Lumiweld stuff or something similar.

Patch it.
Put the trailer back together, then move the winch stand and bow stop forward about 2-3 inches so that the roller will not be directly under the patch.

Ya,
What roscoe says........
Then I'd raise the bunks, or whatever else is supporting the boat,
To take Some of the weight Off the Center rollers......

i would fix it but use somthing as a backing but not solid maybe like a peice of packing peanut (they disapear when water hits them) somthing that wont block water like was said earlyer. whatever u use to fix it dont just glob it all in the hole and block it up.

Re: Should I fix this?

you should be able to have someone tig weld another piece of metal over the small hole, then it will be stronger than when new, it may not look as nice, but it will be right.
