Should I change the oil

I have a 97 chaparral 1930 with a 4.3 LX Gen+ Mercruiser.

Just got it back from the shop for an oil change. Was told they put 10w30 oil in. It has always had 25w40. Should I change the oil or will it be okay?

I have always had really good oil pressure. If it needs to be changed will it hurt to run it over the weekend with the 10w30.

I don't believe thats the oil Mercruiser suggests. Should be 25w40 or SAE30 most of the time. I'd probably consider putting the correct oil in there. A jug of oil is a whole lot cheaper than an engine.

Unless you are in warm waters, like say CA or AZ I would not be in a big rush to change the oil. If your engine is running in the normal heat range you should be ok.

You may want to decrease the interval to your next change. We run 20-50 here in CA but sometimes I run 10-40 in my boat with no problems. In reality you oil is most likely running somewhere around 35 or 40 anyway.
