My 6yr old son has been bass fishing with me since he was 4 years old, now two charters later he has the saltwater bug and wants me to buy a boat. Im looking to get one to fish the bays and the Galveston Jetties. My problem is I know absolutely nothing about boats. Ive been watching videos to try and learn as much as I possibly can. Ive reached out to the gentleman selling this boat and after him finding out I was trying to get my son out on the water he graciously dropped the price from 8k to 6500. Is this a good deal? Is there anything in particular I need to be looking for when viewing the boat? Im open to all opinions, suggestions, and criticisms. I appreciate your time.

Heres his post:

A 18’ boat is pretty small to be out front on all but the calmest days.
No mention of motor in ad makes me suspicious.

Personally, I would pass just because of the house keeping. The guy not making an effort to clean up the boat to sell it speaks volumes. ;)

That looks like more of a lake boat. You want something with higher sides and transom.Charlie

I looked at the pics again and its surely not a rough water boat. Its for lakes and rivers. Not for open water.
