I sat and listened to NOAA on channel 3 (VHF) until 9:00pm and finally decided that it was probably going to be windy as heck at Lake Sonoma. I set my alarm for 5:00am rather than 4:00am and when I got up there was a pretty good breeze and light rain.

It's a little after 9:00am and it's beautiful out with not even a hint of a breeze. Son of a ....... I should of gone fishin! Now I have to do yard work!

Me and the wife rolled the dice yesterday and took out the boat for our first time this year. We had planned for for several days and forecasts looked good until the last hours....60% chance of rain and storms....:( But we had everything ready and since the lake was 35 miles away we hoped we might get lucky. Kept the radio on for NOAA broadcasts and although we did have some random winds to deal with we had a decent day with 32 fish caught, and the storms stayed away until we left. Not the best day of fishing by far but still worth it.

Lucky you, I'd bet Lake Sonoma was throwing up 5-6 footers. Too much work and not enough relaxin for me. You get pretty beat up launching and retrieving too.

We were on a small 270 acre lake, Elk Fork in WV. We had a couple of issues with the darn anchor(s) not holding and had to tie off from time to time on standing timber in the lake...But it did not blow all the time. This lake has a mud bottom and even though I used anchors they just "slid" on the bottom. Other than that though not too bad. Getting the boat out was a pain as it catches wind and will fight you a bit.
