Purchased a new Tohatsu RC5A RC. The electrical cord is 20' long and quite bulky. Really only need about 12'. I looked for oem optional length parts but did not see any offered. What would be the best way to shorten this cord?

There a few ways to accomplish shorting that cable length. If you are very good at removing pins or sockets from the connector, you can remove each pin/socket and cut the wire back to the length you want, then crimp or resolder the wire back to the removed pin/socket and insert it back to the connector plug again, and proceed to the next wire. OR you can cut wire each wire in the run and lap joint them and use heat shrink tube with or with out glue inside to reseal the connection joint. OR you can even fold the wires back on themselves and use a few wire ties to make a shortened length. Other then that, that is about it... JMHO!
