Greetings, I have a question I hope the community can help me with.
I have a 1984 70hp long shaft outboard that’s only good for parts ( blown power head). I am going to look at a 1988 70hp short shaft. Am I correct in assuming that I have everything needed on the 84’ that is needed to make the 88’ a long shaft? If so give me the basic procedure. I’ve done a 1959 evinrude long shaft conversion, but I think this one is a little different. Thanks for your help.

I think the 88 model is a different block at 56 cubic inches.-----The 84 model is 49 cubic inches.

On most motors besides shift and driveshaft change it's water pump draw tube that becomes the hassle.

Lots of options though

He said it’s a short shaft, but looking at the photos has me questioning that. I will inquire about the model number.
