? short in wiring harness to trolling motor

I have a 1995 motorguide trolling motor 50Lb. thrust. It seems to have a short. Seems to be working fine, but if I move the harness or the footguide it stops. I can usually move the harness around and can get it to work. Any ideas on this problem and how to repair will be appreciated.

I'm afraid you are going to have to open up the harness and see which wires are shorting out. However you can do it with the least amount of damage to the harness(AKA Cutting it open).. See if you can narrow it down by having someone step on the control while it runs and you go along and bend the harness in small increments until the motor stops. You should be able to find it this way and not damage the harness covering much when you repair it..
