Recently purchased a 1999 Powerquest with a single 454 mag mpi that has silent choice exhaust. I noticed that the amp meter on the dash reads just over 12 volts when in loud exhaust mode but under 10 amps when the silent option button on the dash is toggled. What should I do?

Not reading this right. Standard instrumentation only has a voltmeter, which reads volts. With a fully charged battery and the engine running the voltmeter should read between 13.8 and 14.3, but dash panel meters are notoriously inaccurate, so you need a proper digital multimeter that check it. If the gauge is reading 12 volts without the engine running, that is ok, but to stay at 10 volts after the switch is flipped probably means the motor that changes the dirverter is still being driven. Check it's adjustments.

You have two diverters. Disconnect the diverter wiring one at a time to see if one side or the other is causing the voltage or current drop.
