Looking to replace bunks and think one of the brackets is bent on my 1991 Shoreland'r Trailer. It appears that the bunks are 2x6's...Does that seem normal? I was wondering where to get the replacement brackets for the trailer because everywhere I look doesn't seem to have the same ones that are on there

2X6 sounds about right.<br />On my 1997 Shorelander tandem axle, I elimintated the brackets that the bunks sat down into. There were 2 per side, one at the front of the bunk, one at the rear. Well, my trailer is an equiload, and the bunks also rested on a "frame" inbetween the brackets. So when the bunks rotted & the brackets rusted beyond repair, I simply eliminated them, got green/wet pressure treated 2X6 at Lowes, and counter sunk stainless carriage bolts down through the boards & the existing holes (where the brakets were bolted to that "frame"). Only changed the height of the bunks about 1/2" and didn't affect the loading or positioning of the boat. Just a thought.

I have the same boat & trailer and just replaced my bunks last week. I also could not find the shorelandr brackets that are on this trailer, so I replaced them with the 8" brackets and swivel tops you see in the above listed link. Only one problem, there is only one hole in the trailer for existing bunk brackets. When I put the 8" ones on with only one bolt, the weight of the boat bouncing on them going down the road caused them to fall. I am going outside today to drill an additional hole for each bracket, and add a second bolt, which should fix the problem. Should have known better, but was being lazy, I guess. I wish I would have done this while I had the boat off the trailer!!!

For what it's worth, if you have an old bracket as a sample, you could have a fabricating shop make some new ones - just like the old ones, or different if you need them modified. I did this recently when I couldn't find keel roller brackets with a long enough reach for my trailer. I took in a standard bracket along with my trailer and the guy and I came up with the right dimensions. A day later I had the 6 brackets I needed. They were about twice as expensive as the store bought ones but (1) they did what I wanted them to (2) in the big picture spending an extra $30 on something like this is no big deal and (3) I wasted quite a bit of time searching locally and online for what I needed - if I'd just had the custom job done right off, it would have been better (had I known, of course!). Downside is that the new parts are not galvinized, but I don't go into salt very much and took the time to prime and paint well - they should hold up OK, and I know how to replace them in the (far) future if need-be.
