Hi everyone,

I'm pretty sure that according to Shoreland'r, there is a calcium complex grease in my hubs (factory fill). First, is this accurate and what brand of grease from West Marine, Wal-Mart, etc. would be acceptable to use on my hubs. Thanks for any info. you can send my way.

I would go to an auto parts store (a real one) and purchase that type of grease. CC Grease is great for high temps and real high pressure.

I guess you could use the old standby marine grease but the CC grease is high tech.

Hi Bob, would it be a problem for the CC grease to mix with the other types of trailer grease?

Is CC grease suitable for Marine conditions though...............i.e water?

Just wondering.........I tried googling it but came up with nothing useful. I only ask because the previous owner of my boat used standard automotive style grease in the hubs and the bearings weren't in great shape (although I dont know if he took care of them after the intial fill either)

Yes the Calcium Complex grease is fine for water. I am not sure about mixing it with other grease.

I use a standard marine grease. Easy to find.

If water gets in there is no grease made that will stop bearing pitting at best some will hold more water than others before turning to mush

Its far more inportant to have a grease that will hold up to the temps of your brake system

I rebuild machinery that is washed up to 8 times a day and the only thing that works is seals that do not leak :)
