Yes, 2770. You should be concerned.

Your axle may well be sound, but if you ever had one collapse on the road you will go to lengths to ensure that it never happens again. It doesn't take much of a pothole to break a weak axle.

Get the axle and any other rusty parts sandblasted and painted. Evaluate the strength of the axle after it is blasted.

Good luck. :)

Sand blast parts that are rusted and use a product called POR15. It is great. 3 step process after removing as much rust as possible, wash with marine clean, prep with metal ready and apply por15. A little goes a long way. My son done a complete truck frame with it and it neutralizes rust and makes it very sound. Web is
WWW.PORCAN.COM You will love this product. Good luck

I have not had good luck with POR-15 in long term use on trailers. It always bubbles and flakes off even after sandblasting or phosporic acid wash.

IMHO, a superior product is Eastwood's Corroless that you can order from http://www.eastwoodcompany.com

With the proper prep using marine clean and metal ready we have extreme good luck with our trailers and truck frames. You must follow the directions closely and use only there products for complete compatability. After using the POR which is sensitive to ultra violet rays cover it with a good quality automotive paint or rust paint. If it is exposed to the sun light it will stand up. We have used it and highly recommend it's use.

Kiya,

I have used POR-15 many times on cars and trailers. Of course, I carefully followed their instructions, and also those of other customers who had tired it. Flaked every time.

Eastwood's Corroless is a superior product.
If you haven't tried it and compared, you should.
