Shifting problems

"94 Four Winns Horizon SE OMC outdrive 5.0 EFI engine. Worked great last time out. Went to the river today and no forward or reverse. One of the kids may have pushed throttle while on the trailer, could that break anything? Shifter feels smooth, throttles up and down ok just won't go into gear. Cable goes down into outdrive, I cant see any connections. HELP Please

No, that shouldn't have hurt anything. It's not "stuck" in the neutral throttle position is it? Can you shift it into gear using the bracket on the engine?

I don't see a bracket to shift. Cable just goes straight down into the outdrive.

The remote control cable (from helm to engine) connects to a bracket. From this bracket the lower shift cable goes to the drive. By moving this lower shift cable can you shift the drive. Post up some pics of your engine compartment so we can tell you what to mess with.

Good advise to all.......use stainless pins...$.10 part , cotter pin on shift arm, could have been major problems on the river in the current. Luckily it broke at the dock. Thanks to Dan at Lyles Boats in Cashmere WA. Super fast fix.
