Hello everyone. I'm new here looking for some help. I have a '96 Sunbird bow rider with the 3.0 Volvo Penta SX. I'm not new to boats but am new to the the Volvo.

I am trying to replace the shifter mechanism seal in the upper unit but have hit a wall trying to remove the spring, compression, tensioning din and/or pin. It is #65 in this diagram (link below) It's not as simple as punching it out as there is only one side to access it.

I try to do as much research as I can but am not finding anything on the removal of this pin*. All information in greatly appreciated.

Tap 65 in far enough to pull out 66. Once 66 is out tap 67 against a block of wood until 65 falls out.

Pin 65 bottomed out with out enough clearance to pull out 66. Pin 65 is now recessed about 1/4". I really don't want to buy all new parts so what should be done? Thanks

Sounds like someone has had it apart before and didn't take the old pin out after punching it through.
Here is a part from the manual.
Short of cutting the eccentric piston to get the pin (#66) out I don't know of another way to remove it. Have a look at your link, it's note and the service bulletin.
