Salute All
I have removed my gearcase to change water pump impellar and gaskets on my 71 johnson 60HP hydro electric . manual suggested ohming shift solenoid valves and they should be between 5 to 7 ohms one was 6 ohms AND OTHER 12.5 Ohms is it worth tearing into?, got the boat and motor used never had it on the water something tells me id better take the valves out or at least the wiring , but didnt know if it was worth the hassel for a reading of 12 ohms ?
Thanks All

Re: Shift solenoid?

yes if it is shifting and when you put it back be sure the rubber seal is in the hole the wires come through or seal it with silacon or some type sealer. i used a gasket sealer at times .it will let exzoust come into the cover and want idle right . use a foot lube for eletric shift the reg for mechanickle shift willnot work .it has a pump and needs the thinner lub . git it from a dealer . there may be a substitute
