shift shaft tunning on 1993 evinrude 150cv

Hey,<br />I´ve a 1993 25" evinrude 150cv v6 60º and I´ve removed the shift shaft to change seals.<br />I forget first to remove, to measure the distance between upper hole of shift shaft and plane of gearcase.<br /><br />Someone knows this distance ?<br />thanks in advance

Thanks Clanton, sorry for my english :<br /><br />I supose gear must be in neutral position for this measure...<br />and is from center of upper hole to plane of gearcase.<br />I´ll try tonight ( Spanish time ) and I´ll inform you about results.<br /><br />NOTICE TO MEDITERRANEAN FISH: "ethek is back..."

Adjust while in neutral, measure from the top of gearcase deck, or screw shift rod all the way in, then unscrew until released and count turns, then install counting 1/2 of total turns to remove rod. If you counted 12 total turns from all the way in, to all the way out, then install using 6 turns.<br /><br /> Are there still Bultaco motorcycles in spain? I used to own a 5 speed 125 Sherpa.

You can check to see of the shift rod height is correct by noting the shift lever attached to the crankcase. It should be parallel to the crankshaft when in neutral, that way it gets equal "throw" when shifted into fwd. or rev.

Thanks to all members,<br /><br />I´ve measured as follows:<br />full screw : 26 - 1/32<br />full unscrew/release : 26 - 13/32<br /><br />according yours suggestions I´ll try 26 7/32<br /><br />Calton: No more original Bultaco in Spain were produced since 1985( snif...) but Derbi makes now 2 new models you can see http://www.derbi.es/bultaco.
