After several attempts to reinstall the LU, I finally got it lined up and installed. I fired up the engine on muffs to test my power head reselling job. It was running good so I wanted to test the gears before heading to the lake. Fwd engaged fine but when I pulled back to reverse something gave. I dropped the LU again and found that the splined shift shaft just spins and doesn't seem to be doing anything. Some have mentioned that it probably got separated from the shift mechanism and that it will need to be pulled apart and the Fwd gear removed to access it.
Ideas anyone? What should I expect to pay for a working LU?
