I have a 1994 merc. Im the original owner. Shift linkage has never bin adjusted. A couple years ago in started not to fully engage in to reverse. Now I have no Reverse. I decided to try adjusting my shift cable. Its maxed out no more adjustment. that's where its bin since the day I bought it. I thought maybe a new cable. After putting the new cable on it still wont fully engage. If I take the cable off I can push back on the shifter and it engages. its like I need about a 1/4" more adjustment but don't have anymore. Any Ideas?
