HELP. I accidentally removed the shift pivot screw while trying to change the gear oil. I managed to put the screw back but it seems like I can't shift and but the motor in or out of gear. The shift rod seems so loose. Is there a way for me to put the shift arm back on the shift yoke without having to take the lower unit apart? I have a manual but it seems so complicated to take it apart. I don't want to mess anything up further. If it's hard I think I'm going to need expert help.

Is there anyone from the Boston area who could help me fix this? I will compensate for your help.

Thanks

Re: Shift Pivot Screw (Pin) Removed

Sorry, but that screw should NEVER have been removed. Hate to be blunt, but thats why a Manual is SO IMPORTANT. Yes, it needs professional help. The total guts must be removed just to put that pivot pin back in, as its the first thing done on reassembly. You will need a couple seal kits, and a new crush washer (it is NOT reusable).
