shift in to reverse issue

hello guys, 1987 alpha one gen 1 replaced the shifter control at the side panel of the boat and the boat shift perfect to forward but when in going in to reverse has a rrrrr then shift, before this was not happening thanks for advice.

Ayuh,.... I'd think the problem is where you were just workin', if it worked fine when ya started,.....

Ya need to verify the new controller is doin' as it should be doin',....

Other than that, run through the lower shift cable adjustments found in Don'S Adults Only section, 'n see if that helps,....
