shift cables the same?

hey guys sorry i havnt been on in a while. anyways i have the 165 hp mercruiser stearn drive and need a new shift cable...the lower one. the engine is a gm 4.1 l inline six. ive been looking on ebay and found a couple of them. are all the alpha one drives the same or do they need special cables? i think i have an alpha one that is. thanks guys!

Ayuh,... If it's original, it's a model 1 drive,...
It'll need to be drilled, tapped, 'n Updated to the Alpha style lower shift cable...
The originals are NLA...

so if i see a shift cable for an alpha 1 it should be good to use? minus the drilling and tapping is this somwhat easy to do? im a mechanic just not on boats!!!!

ok im looking on ebay and all im seeing is for aplha 1 gen 2 cables. is this what i have to get hence the drilling and tapping?
