I have a 1988 sunbird with an omc cobra 4.3 outboard.I've been doing some readingbut I've seen a couple different part numbers for the shift cable which one is correct?

Assuming your talking about the lower unit shift cable and not the one from your control box looks like PN 0987661 or item # 93 in this picture http://www.dougrussell.com/partscat...8,499,500,501,502,503,504,505,506,509,507,508

the link doesn't work.But the 0987661 part number sound like the one it takes.There was recall and I just want to make sure that the 0987661 is the replacement cable not the faulty one. Thanks for the help.

Sorry about the link Tim, looks like you can only imbed a url link up to a certain size, it should work if you cut an paste the whole thing into your browser or just go to the Doug Russell site and look under OMC and then select your year and engine size
