can anyone enlighten me as to why I can not find a replacement shift cable for my Penta SX? volvopentastore does not have it in any diagram. Is this something like a teleflex cable that I can find anywhere? Should the cable have numbers on it? The sleeve is pretty much trash. How hard is this to change on this motor? I think I can do it without breaking to much down.

Enlighten me please.

Thanks

Re: Shift Cable help!

If you post your engine and drive model/serial numbers the Volvo people here can help.

Re: Shift Cable help!

That's because its not a Volvo item. Its a Morse 33c cable that runs from the helm to the drive.

Re: Shift Cable help!

actually volvo does have cables now made to their specs, stay away from the teleflex black jacketed. the morse red jacket,Yamaha or Volvo 33 series cables will work well.
look under the acessories section I believe.
as not all hulls take the same length cable Volvo doesnt list it on the diagram, but they do list them by length.
I dont know who makes the cables for volvo but they do say volvo on them :)

Re: Shift Cable help!

Its a volvo Penta SX 3.0GL. Sorry don't have the serial # handy.

Ok that makes sense, I'll see if I can find it.
