Hi All,

For those that have had a new cable installed and performed a adjustment. How much effort was/is required to shift the leg while someone is turning the prop?

I have a 1979 alpha one and 470. I am sure the cable is sticky etc. This of course creates the as discussed shifting issues that everyone seem to have problems with.

I need a miracle lubricant please.

To me it feels like 5-7lbs is what i need to shift during testing/adjustment.

Thanks,

Hi Bond-O

Thanks, for the reply.

I realise that the cable needs replacing.

But you didn't answer the question.

"For those that have had a new cable installed and performed a adjustment. How much effort was/is required to shift the leg while someone is turning the prop?"

Thanks,

once you install the plastic slide ,grease your thumb and index finger, gently hold the plastic slide , and shift the lower unit.
If your fingers slide, you need a new cable.

Thats a bit more like it. If I had 120 grit sand paper they would slide. I am in Yukon. I don't have a example to go "play" with. Yup it does need replacing. I am suprised it works as good as it does.

Now if only i had the parts.

Cheers,
