cables are very stiff and haven’t been done in 20 years. Want to do the shift and throttle for the m90a. Will these cables work?

SeaStar CCX633xx XTREME 3300/33C Type Control Cable with 10-32 Threaded Ends

also I am in a classic Montauk 16”7 will 17 foot cables work here? I read tons of conflicting sizes from 16 to 18.

also how hard of a job is this? Is it just disconnect the old one tape the new one to it and pull it through the table. Connect to the shifter and to the outboard?

How is do I disconnect my shifter from the console? Is this done through bolts from the back?

thabk you in advance for your answers

Any standard morse-type cable with threaded (10-32) ends. Measure from the control to the transom ad 1/2 the transom. add 3 feet. Is is a side control? Adjust the cables with the shifter in N and the motor in N.

No mounting on a center console. I would imagine I would undo the nuts from the back and it will pull out no? Here is a picture of the throttle. The handle on the right is no longer being used.

Get a Factory service manual, and that will show you how to sync the cables after they are installed.
Be sure to clean and lube the control while everything is apart.

Sync? Isn't it just undo the control box from back and then unhook the shift at the helm then unhook the shift on the engine. Attach the new cable to the old cable pull through. Then attach at the helm and then attach on the engine with the loop.

Do the same for throttle.

Am I missing something here?

Yes, you are. The cables have clevises on them. You must assure that you are at idle at the motor when at idle at the control; also that you are in N at the motor when in N at the control.
Pull one old cable out, and read the numbers from it. That will give you the length. Then but 2 new ones. Then use the remaining cable to pull them through. Then transfer the clevises and adjust. Then lock the nuts so they stay adjusted.

Ahh ok i need to transfer the clevises from one cord to the other the attach. That was the step I was missing. Then how do you assure you are at idle and n?
