Thought Id share what ive been working on

This is a 1996 TenderJet made by Robert Bracey the designer of the Raider Twin Track Snowmobiles, Pontiac Mera, Trail Roamer Snowmobile and more.

It has a Mercury SportJet 95XR under the hood. He wanted to put a 175 in it. Its damn fast now. I couldnt imagine a 175 in it. It hasnt been ran in about 15 years. So after cleaning the carb, changing stator oil and lower unit oil. It runs decent. Had it out last year for a bit. With a full tank of gas 20 gal tank, It wont get up on plane. I suspect the wear ring, or ride plate gasket.

Heres some pics of it. He used alot of off the shelf parts for it. See if you can identify what he used. When it gets up on plane, it runs damn fast, GPS speedo said 50.

DNR stopped me on the lake a week ago asking why I wasnt wearing a life jacket on the jet ski, I said well its a boat. thats what its registered as. He's like well I cant write you a ticket then. Have fun.

The later prototypes had a thumb throttle. When your crusing around fast you gotta remember to reach down and slow down.

Other than that, It sure gets the looks.

I can understand why the ranger questioned you about wearing a life vest. What is it? :noidea: And I don't understand the 95 and 175 signification. I am assuming those are CC displacement numbers. :noidea: Interesting all the same.

Awesome! That throttle being there is suicide- for me atleast!

Haven't seen something like that on my lake....yet

I assume the 95 is 950cc and the 175 is 1750cc?

For the planing issues check the pump shoe. I had that problem on my jet-ski and it was a broken up pump shoe.

95HP. and 175HP. That throttle takes a bit to get used to. But once you get a feel for her shes fine. Ive tried so hard to see if I can dump it. 70mph hard turn and she still stayed upright. that was at WOT. Good on gas too.

I honestly have to say, there is no way those numbers are the HP ratings between the two engines. 95HP on that little...well....whatever it is, would hit well over 70MPH speed rating IF you could handle it. JMHO

There are PWCs on the market now with 300hp.

Supercharged PWC are common....

Throwing the boat in this topic ito a 70mph tight turn would probably be sporty

... boat might make it, but I can't imagine (at least this) driver makin' it :D

I just hold on tight lol. I love this thing. My dad never really has time to use it and since I live on a lake. Hes like it can stay there. Ive also got a 65 Glassmaster Tri Hull with a 65HP Merc on it. Craigslist score of the year its in perfect shape. Seller was fed up with it because he couldnt make it run. I changed the spark plugs and cleaned the carbs lol. 200 bucks.

Not really, my dads 215 hp supercharged seadoo only hits 72

Thanks for sharing, always loved the cool weirdness of the Raider sleds

Man I wouldn't want some of the PWC goofs in my area to get on that sucker if it'll go 70. All they seem to do here is go around in circles and see how much they can harass the boaters.

Those are common merc sportjet powerheads. 90/95 were entirely force motors with a couple merc parts. 120hp sportjets were a mix of merc/force, and the 175's and larger were all merc. (the 175/205 sportjets used the Merc 2.5l v6 block, used in a lot of the larger mercs as well as the racing engines)

In any case, 50 on a sj90 on that boat would be a little optimistic but not far off.

cool boat! At least in my neck of the woods, the legal definition is that PWC's are ridden on, boats are ridden in. Straddling a bench seat that is above the gunwall certainly means you are riding ON the craft, not in it, so it is a PWC.

Well got the planing issues figured out. Ride plate was missing 5 screws. put it back up in. Now she planes out with 4 riders on it. and hits 50 with 4 people on it. By myself I was flying. Handles great. Had the lights on cruising around. Gotta work out the slower speeds yet. But its getting there.

That jet ski must look pretty funny with 4 riders.
And even funnier if they are all men.....
