I just purchased the above at an auction. Was built and owned by an older gentlemen who passed awhile ago. Boat has been kept under wraps and in a barn with the engine looking almost brand new. Unfortunately, when the older gentlemen passed, the family could only find the marine architectural plans, but not the documents on the drivetrain. Can anyone direct me to a source so I can acquire the manuals on the engine and outdrive?

Thanks.

Welcome to iboats.....:)
The engine shouldn't be too tough to figure out, but I'll bet it isn't your run of the mill 302-351 either.....
The Eaton drive might be a problem to find info on.....:(
Stick around, someone will have some help.....
It would be helpful if you could post some ID #'s......
Ford Interceptor Marine Engine Manuals & Marine Drive Manuals
This link might help......;)

Haut Medoc:

Thanks for the instant info. Engine is 210 HP version distributed by Robert Fisher Marine out of Costa Mesa. I'll eventually post pictures and ID numbers if current info is to no avail. I can track most everything on it, but am currently working on the water cooling system as this was disassembled partially. Not having any experience with the Eaton outdrive, I'm hesitant to proceed without assuring myself of the proper cooling circuit before cranking the engine over. Once I am sure of the water source and circuit, I have the feeling from looking at the maintenance on the engine and functionality of the other systems (blower, potable water system, bilge, electronics, etc.) that it may start right up.

Cheers and have one for me!

I know zilch about eaton, but you will need to change the raw water impeller, before you even try to start it......;)

Ayuh,.....

Your Drive, the Eaton/ Dana/ Chrysler drives have been out of production for nearly 40 years,......

To the Best of My knowledge,....
Marysville Marine, in Marysville Mich. is the Only supplier of parts,+ support for them,....
Luckily,... They have pretty much Any parts you might need.....
Google them up, they have a Great website with parts breakdowns of most of the drives/ models.....

Good Luck,......

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I'll check them out.

The guys at Sierra Boats out at Lake Tahoe have also been helpful in identifying potential resources. They think the engine is a Ford Windsor Series. As I go through the process, I'm thinking it's a 289 with a Carter AFB and a mallory distributor system. I took pictures, but have to reduce the resolution for this site as pic size allowed is very small.

Thanks again.

Ayuh,.... Keep Us posted Gary,.....

I bought a Houseboat a couple of summers ago with Twin Danas, spun by Twin 318 Chrylers,.....

The Learning Curve was pretty steep, but after going thru 1 of mine,......
They're built like a Rock,+ Super Easy to Service.......

Just the 8qt.s of Oil compared to My Alpha's 1, 1/2qt. says Alot for the Design...............;)

Btw,....... I use Pacasa for resizing,+ xs.to as a photohosting site.....

OK, go figure! Microsoft Powerpoint allows you to insert the picture into PowerPoint and then reconvert it back to a jpeg, thereby lowering the file size (as attached). My brother-in-law (an Annapolis sailor) also uses Picassa.

Anyway, I have contacted Marysville and I'll let you know the outcome. Had a local ancient mariner in the repair business look at the engine and drive. He says the outdrive hasn't been manufactured for over 40 years, but is a cousin to the Volvo and OMC. Wasn't much help on identifying the engine without pulling the numbers and not much help on my water system questions, but was impressed with the condition of both as new.

My water questions are as follows. Basically, inside the boat, the hose from the outdrive was there, but not connected to anything. One side of the secondary pump was connected into the system that splits into the heat exchangors. The other side of the secondary was not connected to anything. Unfortunately, the side connected to the health exchangor system has a T in it and one leg of the T was not connected to anything. Lastly, there was a smaller hose coming off the manifold above the heat exchanger splitter hose system that was also not connected to anything.

In a locker on the boat was a single hose (not connected to anything), and a T connector with a valve, where a water hose connector preceded the valve turn off that fed the top of the flow through T (not connected to anything).

My supposition is that the connector goes after the outdrive input, followed by the hose to the unconnected side of the secondary pump. Hence, one could connect a hose to feed the secondary pump and the engine cooling system without need to feed water through the outdrive intake.

Unfortunately, that leaves me scratching my head on where the manifold output connects and where the T on the supply side of the secondary pump connects?! Frankly, I didn't want to turn the engine over without being sure the water system was connected properly. I'm fine with pre-start up tasks with regard to gas, oil, etc. otherwise. Hence, my immediate need for the manuals.
