I am about to tear my hair out trying to set up my Wife's LiveMail account on her Lenovo. I google the subject and it comes up with all kinds of stuff that is not necessarily aimed at LiveMail. I have tried to set it up as IMAP and POP3, All result in a 'failure to communicate'.

I also have a Lenovo but I have a Reagan.com email. They provide explicit instructions for set up and it worked first time around.

You already have an app, the one that came with Android. It just doesn't appear to work with her account. Why not try one made specifically for for email account?

Okay, I did some testing with my Hotmail account. I could NOT get the Windows Live Mail app to receive mail; sending worked fine. However, the native email app worked perfectly.

On Android I had to use apps to make exchange email to work. The built in client is not the best.

I have my system mail app on my android get all my mail except my main gmail. I could get this in my system app too, but for some reason I keep it separate. I'm not sure how to explain it though. The bad part here is that I can't explain how I did it. There is an android forum that has some good how to articles, that may be a good place to start. One thing that I notice when I have trouble with my mail apps is the password, I normally mess something up and then it won't communicate.

Additionally, the native app set all the send and receive settings correctly on its own. I just had to enter my email address and password to set up the account. I have two accounts (the other is a Yahoo-related account) coexisting peacefully within the app.

So, I signed up on live.com for a test email account and tried to get it set up with the standard Android Gmail program. It's too bad they got rid of the standard email app and consolidated it with Gmail. I hate it and it didn't work for me. I am running Lollipop on a 1st gen Nexus 7.

Installed the Outlook app and it works flawlessly with the new email.

My Lenovo came with a separate Gmail app in addition to the generic email app. I used the generic app.

You didn't say what you're running on your Lenovo.... Winblows 7/8/10 etc? OH......WAIT A MIN! You DID.

Android tablet!! DUH!

Too bad there isn't a Thunderbird for Android........
I'll bet the Linux version could be easily ported to Android (since android is Linux) .....maybe it's in the "works"

Looks like MS Outlook for the Android might work

The generic app is what I used to set up my Reagan.com email on my Lenovo and it worked just fine. That is the same app that I was trying to use on my Wife's Lenovo, for her Live.com email and it doesn't work. My wife also has a Nexus tablet. She has her email set up with another app??? and it works well. I do not know if that app came on her Nexus.

I will see if I can dig up an Outlook app, like BruceB mentioned and try that on her Lenovo. One thing I do know is that when you use the generic Lenovo app, you can find your email account in setup under Accounts. Your GMail account also shows up there. The app she uses on her Nexus does not show up under Accounts in Setup.

I was hoping that I could go into the email account setup on her Nexus and see what incoming and outgoing settings were. I would then make sure that I used those same settings in the generic app on her Lenovo. But I could find the settings.

Which version of Android are you using? Lollipop? KitKat?

Outlook app is free from the Playstore.

The Lenovo uses Android 4.0.3. I think they call that ICE CREAM. Her Nexus 7 uses Android 5.1.1. I think that is Lollipop. Other than the email issue, the older, cheaper Lenovo boots quicker and has better wifi reception. It also is more reliable in opening the Kindle app.

Holy smokes! That is old! That's as bad as running Windows XP! :)

Not only is it old, it's an old version of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Well that might be but I do not have any trouble setting up and getting my email on my $100 Lenovo A1000 using Android 4.1.2.

Not saying you should update. I updated my Nexus 7 to KitKat and it is basically worthless now.

Just giving you grief! :)

I would try the Outlook App first and see how it does.

Progress! I identified the app that the wife's Nexus used and downloaded it onto the Lenovo. I handed it to her, she filled in the blanks and voila, she had email. So I guess it was the embedded email app that was the issue. How was mortal man to know? I am slowly getting to know the whys and wherefores of tablets. Very slowly.
