Hello,

I just got a used bunk trailer (thanks JustMrWill!) and need to set it up for my boat. It is obvious to me how to set its height, but how much do I want the bunks to overhang off the rear of the trailer, and how long do I want them to be total?

Thanks
e

Re: Setting up a Bunk trailer?

The bunks need to extend far enough to support the stern of the boat. No need to go longer but should not be shorter. Take some tools with you when you load the boat. You may need to load and unload a few times to get it right. You can also move the winch post/bow stop to allow the boat to sit farther forware on the trailer. This obviously affects tongue weight but the axle can be adjusted forward or back to get that right after the bunks are set properly.
