following the manual, with the motor running and warmed up I hook up a jumper between the white wires and hook the interupt switch wires together. Base timing is supposed to be 1* btdc.

The motor does not change rpm, idle, etc. when doing this and the timing shows 8* btdc. Is this a bad module?

Engine S/N OK148523

That serial number means it needs to be set a 2 ATDC

The rpm should not increase and only reason to have a tach on the motor is to make sure its idling between 650-700

If initial timing is 2? ATDC: 15? BTDC, plus or minus 2?. At 2400-2800 rpm maximum
(total) advance is obtained and should be 26? BTDC (plus or minus 2?).

The timing does not change if the jumper and interrupt switch is hooked up or not

Should not be an issue so long as when the jumper is removed you get the total advance

My manual and flame arrestor says base timing is 1* BTDC and verify after jumper is removed that the timing advances to 10-14* BTDC, which it does not.

However my boat runs great, I was just wanting to check the timing for peace of mind and this is what I'm finding
