My motor is a Yamaha 30 HP long shaft( and I cant believe how quiet it is ) on a Pro Series 14 ft. Princecraft . The stern on the boat is right to the top , so its meant for a long shaft motor. When I bought the unit , I see the motor sits about 1/12 - 2 " above the top of the stern . Its bolted to the stern and everything and theres room for adjustment for moving the motor up and down . What is the proper procedure for telling if the motor is sitting properly ? Where should the cavitation plate on the leg be in association to the keel/bottom of the boat . Ive addes a few pics so you can see .
Start off with the cav plate even with the keel and raise the motor up 1/4" or so at a time until it cavitates (usually when turning hard) and then drop it back down 1/4". Watch the engine temp to be sure your picking up cooling water. The more engine out of the water, the better the performance and fuel enconomy. Any questions, get back to us.

c/6

Hooty
