Setting Low Speed Jet on 9.9 Merc

Hi Folks<br />What is a good starting point for setting the low speed fuel mixture needle on a 1996 Merc 9.9?<br />Also, what procedure should I use to get the perfect setting? Does the motor need to be loaded?<br />I know I am a dummy for not noting the position when I dissasembled the carb, but I initially thought it was an access plug for a fixed jet. DUhHh<br /><br />BTW I am at sea level.

Im surprised it has an adjustable jet.<br /> These are generic instructions.Start at one<br />turn out then with the motor running warm in gear adjust to the smoothest setting take your time to <br /> let it settle as you go.Dont know if this will work on your carb but it sure wont hurt.
