Service while boats in water

Hi, <br /><br />I all new to the boating world and I have just bought a 23 foot cobia and put a brand new mercury 200 outboard on it. In order to keep the waranty valid I need to get the 20, 50, and 100 hour services down. Can someone tell me if this is able to be done while the boat is on water or does it have to be hauled?<br /><br />Cheers

Howdy, Poidda.<br /><br />If your dealer is on the water he might let you just deliver it to the dock. That's up to him.<br /><br />Replacing the impeller is tough on the water, but it can be done.<br /><br />Good luck.

Hi Poidda<br />J.B. gives good advice. This is something you will need to work out with your dealer. If you moore your boat and have no trailer, then you will have to cordinate a time between you, the person doing the service work and the work yard. Alot of times you may be able to have short inspection work done while on the lift. This will depend on how busy things are.

Hello<br /> so far I have not mastered the art of changing gear oil while in the water. however I do a lot of service aat the customers boat lift. just make sure it gets don somewhat close to schedule and boating is happy. also a lot of the work you may do yourself. you manual will detail it<br /> good luck and keep posting

Thanks for the information. Hopefully when in comes time for the service of our new engine there wont be any repairs needed and it can be done in water.
