New here. I am asking the forum with help in determining the correct carburetor rebuild kit for, I believe a 1984 Mercury 9.8 outboard motor. I am attaching images of the motor, as well as the serial number. I have searched serial numbers/models, but have not been able to find this particular serial number. Thanks for all of your help.

A dealer uses the serial number to get the correct parts.----I would say it is a 1985 model.----A good Mercury dealer will help you with a repair kit.-----Amazon not so much.-----If you just bought it a new impeller must be installed.-----Post the compression values.---

Measure the driveshaft for the impeller. There are two different shaft diameters used.

Same carb/motor/parts from 1980-1985. Both 1984 & 1985 are brown stripe. 82 & 83 we're blue stripe
