Serial Number Help

Hello,

I recently bought a boat and motor and I need help identifying the motor. The place I bought it from was not a boat dealer and they were unsure. I believe it is a 150 BlackMax, but it has a 200 cover on it. I couldn't find the serial number on the transome mount, but I did find a number stamped on a plug on top of the motor. The number I found was 6181516. Is this the serial number or is there another place to find one.

That is the serial number. The problem is that you need HP to look up the year of the motor, on maxrules.com

Go to the website and look up the year for a 150 and a 200 with that serial number. Now get on the crowley marine site and try to match up the parts, to see which motor it is. Carb numbers might be a good starting point. Yours should be stamped with a number.
