Serial Number 200 V Black Max

My 200 V Black Max has lost the serial number sticker. At the base of the power head the date Oct 31, 1989 is stamped painted on. Is the serial number located in the poerhead somewhere? I am changing the water pump and want to ensure I order the correct parts.

look for a frost plug on the port side, with the number stamped in it. sometimes its there

I just took mine apart and took the parts to the Dealer on my 225 Black Max. They sell everything upper and lower water pump parts in 2 kits for around $85 and they had them in stock. Only took about 2 hours to do, she told me to make shure to put RTV sealer between the exaust port and the water pump section to eliminate possible exaust getting on the water pump housing.

Mercury make a "heavy duty" impeller, make sure you get that one. The impeller is a standard stok item. If you have never changed it out, you may need the entire pump assembly.
If you need a sr# to look at parts try this one:0C198948, that is from a 1989 200hp Merc 2.4L engine.

Thanks guys...ser # was on the frost plug. I have ordered the parts from merc including the entire water pump rebuild kit. I hope the HD impeller is included. Thanks again great forum
