Hi, I own a Honda 50Hp 1997 model engine. Was running like a jem but lately i notice very rough idling. Through the elimination process i found that #3 cylinder was not doing its job. Spark is good and so is compression. i have just cleaned the carb and still no joy. However just yesterday i got it work by semi choking the #3 cylinder just with my fingers over the inlet. It obvoiusly means that the cylinder is unable to breath fuel or enough fuel. Any suggetions from anyone, please post.

Howdy, Rajp.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Too often, "cleaning the carb" is like a youngster washing behind his ears. The effort was there, but the results were not.

Your symptoms point directly to an over-lean mixture from that carb, which strongly suggests that one of those tiny, tiny passages is partly or fully blocked.

Another possibility is a leaky gasket in the intake path drawing some of the air from a source other than the carb.

Dismantle that carb. Soak it, then blow out all of the tiny passages or even run a fine wire through them.

Good luck. :)
