Re: Seloc or Clymer repair manuals ?
I just recently purchased a clymer's for my evinrude (83 - 50 hp).
I would give it a "Fair" rating. The trouble shooting is great for the starter and for ignition troubles.
After that, it drops off rapidly. There are some tables with spark plug gaps, where to lube, etc., etc.

This would be a good manual for more advanced engine work (i.e. - rebuilding heads, powerhead work, gearcase rebuilding, carb rebuilding, etc.)

I don't know if any of the competitors are better or not, though. Just a word of warning on the trouble shooting.

I am a newbie to this, as this is my first boat. And the clymers was a definite help. Just lacking in a few area's.

Don't know if this was helpful or if it made it more confusing. The Clymer's is MUCH better than nothing, but I bet the service manual would be better (as long as it is illustrated).

Good luck,

Jason
