Re: seized engine

Try sending some marvel mystery oil or pb blaster down the carb.Make sure to take plugs out and try to turn crank by hand first.Dont be in a hurry, let it soak and reapply.Charlie

PB Blaster in each cylinder real good daily for a week. Then as Charlie said. But after sitting six years... you got your hands full. Good Luck!

Re: seized engine

Pull the heads and look at the cylinders. If they are full of rust and have had water in them for 6 years no amount of penetrating oil will help. Even if you did get it so it would turn over, any heavy rust would do in the rings and pistons on the first startup.

Re: seized engine

I bought a 76 searay with a siezed engine also. Had to pull the heads and smack the back two pistons with the end of a wooded handle hammer. Ended up being only about a small amount of rust between the cylinder and piston. That being said I also tried the mineral spirits in the cylinder for a few days and a two foot breaker bar with a 3 foot pipe extension on the crank bolt with no luck.
Anyway good luck.

Re: seized engine

Hope you don't have to do what I had to do when I got a motor like that. Pull apart, soak with oil and drive the pistons out with a piece of 2X4 and a large hammer. Unless the cylinders a perfect and doesn't sound like they are a single ring of rust will destroy your rings and man will that mother smoke. Even if you do get it running it will not be long for this world and breaking down in a boat sucks. It is not like you can get out and walk. Think about a rebuild and the piece of mind it will give you when you are out on the water.

Re: seized engine

Penetrating oil in each cylinder first, let it soak a day or so addingh oil every time you walk pasts it. Then "GENTLY" rock the crank with a breaker bar and socket on the front bolt. A good engine only needs a few specks of rust to seize. After you get it free spin it a few times by hand to work oil out, repeat. Then after all oil is out of cylinders put plugs back and try it. Also change oil!
I will not endorse this, but I have in the past with cars drained all oil after I get them free, add 1 qt oil and the rest deisel feul. Run it at around 1500rpm for 10 minutes or so. Then drain and fill with oil. This will clean the engine good and deisel has enough oil base to keep things lubed.
It might be like my problem I just got past, is the outdrive froze instead of the engine?

If you want to put the best rust busting lube in your cylinders use (Kroil)this stuff is the best but I would pull the heads if it were mine. Good Luck!!

drop a 350 in 305s aren't worth rebuilding when youu can have a 350. 6 years and siezed if it ever does run, it will most likely smoke like crazy
