Anyone ever buy from SEI ?? I am wanting to buy a complete water pump kit for my 200hp Yamaha 2 stroke.OEM "complete" kit is averaging $125 + shipping .I have no problem using aftermarket parts as long as it is a name brand like Sierra,Quicksilver,GLM etc.,SEI marine products has the complete kit for quite a bit less $$ and free shipping.I don't ever remember purchasing from them before.Anyone familiar with them or their quality?? What part number are you looking for?

61A-W0078-A4-00

I'm seeing all kinds of OEM kits for your motor in the $50-60 range with free shipping

There has been some talk regarding early failure on I/O water pumps in the past from SEI..

I was going to make same comment - on the marine engine forum there is a excellent full time marine mechanic that stated when he installs their drives he takes the SEI water pump out and installs a OEM one.

Do yourself a favor and get an OEM impeller. you're not saving that much money. On my merc Alpha Gen 2the OEM impellers look new after 6 years 300 hrs why screw around over a few bucks

Agreed, for impellers and driveshaft bellows use OEM. You don't want either one failing prematurely....

Agreed---Usually only an impeller is needed.-----Use factory impellers.-----Many good water pump housings are thrown out for no reason.

Ok,Thats why I am asking.Got my answer on SEI products. Thanks guys!! I am an Oem guy however I do not shy away from quality aftermarket parts like Sierra,Quicksilver, etc. I have used GLM water pump kits on my Mercruisers and the parts always look pretty new when I change them out.Never a cracked impeller vane and housings and wear plates always look almost new on their way to the trash. Thanks again ,Charlie

Quicksilver is actually not aftermarket, it is the same as Mercury or Mercruiser, just sold in non dealer stores.

Quick silver is MERCURY !----Know of a dealer that offered a " winterizing special " package one season.-----Installed aftermarket impellers.-----Had to send his people out to pull 28' boat out of the water to install new impellers.-----No more trying to save folks $10 after that episode.

Some of the SEI stuff is good. A lot of guys run their drives successfully. Just heard too much BS about their impellers. After changing my original (2004) bellows last year that were still not leaking (they were stuff and rubbing on gimbal ring) I would be hard pressed to use anyone else's

Quicksilver is made by Mercury so that non Mercury dealers can sell their stuff too.

I have a hard time believing there is more than 1 or maybe 2 manufacturing facilities that make these parts and then just package them under whatever name the distributor wants on them . I see it all the time with tool sales . Matco- Mac - Snap On - Cornwall all do it with either there primary or secondary line . It's a joke that a Snap On tool in there Blue Point line sells for 30.00 and the exact same product sold by Lisle is 15.00 . Been in the tool business for 40 years so I know what I am talking about. Where is the Mercruiser or Mercury manufacturing plant for all these parts they sell under there name ? Same thing as Craftsman tools , all subbed out to the lowest bidder , they don't make a single tool .
