Okay, so I went out on the water this morning, got back, and was wiping the fuel/oil mix off of the engine when I decided it was time. An hour and a half later, the powerhead is sitting on my kitchen table, waiting for me to put the plate with the carbs on it back on (whatever you actually call it). My question now is, what should I use to seal it? I am thinking of a really thin skim coat of Permatex Copper, since it holds up to anything, but I am making sure there isn't some wonder sealant out there that is supposed to be used for this application. I don't want to have anything squeeze out into the case, so whatever I use needs to be at a minimum. There was nothing on the surfaces when I tore it down, it must have all washed out over time or it has been worked on in the past, but I doubt that. The gasked between the powerhead and the rest of the outboard was original, and you can't get the engine apart on this without pulling it out. Anyway, thanx for any responses...
